And looking down, people. AndrewAndrew. London, UK View fullsize I see the blocks of flats and social housing at Grønland from my flat. One of them, in particular, is very ugly – a brick building with blue window frames and yellow and red ornaments. Red roof. I am not even sure if its social housing, but I think so. One of the things that are strange and uncomfortable about living at Enerhaugen is that it feels a bit like a white, privileged enclave surrounded by poverty and misery.Frøya. London, UK View fullsize Southside: directly in front of me I see a huge crane which is the central feature of a building site. Just beyond is the clock tower of St.Anne’s church. Further to the distant right I see the turrets and flagstaff of the Victoria tower – Palace of Westminster. Northside: Directly opposite is a hotel. The usage of this building changed from office to hotel despite opposition from residents as the hotel rooms face directly into this residential block, with very little space between us – our privacy has gone. Just beyond is the BT Tower. Lit up like a Christmas tree. Beaming/streaming out continuous messages from its’ revolving floor at the top of its iconic structure. Joy. London, UK View fullsize Dear Gabi, From my flat I can see other blocks with balconies full of flowers and clothes on a line, cars parked, children playing and parents who supervise them.Beatrice. Bucharest, Romania View fullsize Plenty of green space (for Bucharest standards) and blocks.Dan. Bucharest, Romania View fullsize We live next to a very busy road, not really a cosy view and there are quite a lot of empty homes for sale, but it is close to the centre of town. Anne. Tongeren, Belgium View fullsize At the back the former YCA – now sold as more expensive flats …. A pub, some street life on Goswell Road, Fann Street wildlife park… From front balcony -other flats + tower beech gardens on the podium level – A little park with great planting, shrubs, flowers, seats a little low pond too. Sometimes people come to make little videos, photo fashion shoots, tiktok dances, sit in the sun + read, chat, eat & drink. Occasionally geese land on the water. At night the tip of the London shard building glows like an evil robot overlord dominating the city … Adam J. London, UK. View fullsize I can see the green courtyard. Divided into small gardens for each of the houses. In the small blue house there is a dancing school and in the yellow brick house there is a printing factory. In the horizon I can see the city’s towers - not skyscrapers, as most buildings in Copenhagen have no more than 5 floors - but theold church towers, the tower of the City Hall, and of the parliament building. I can also see the top of some of the roller coasters in the amusement park Tivoli.Stine. Copenhagen, Denmark View fullsize They stand in the corners ever watchful, protecting the - more recently - empty streets. There appears to be a headless guardian, headless possibly from some wind battles lost not long ago. A proud outlet building and a hotel who's seen fairer weather, stand tall among the hillside and stormy weather.Silva. Barcelona, Spain View fullsize From my flat I can see other flats also a school playground and the trees on it. There are no major roads, which is fantastic. I can also see part of a football stadium but I can say that I do not miss the noise of a football match at all.Teresa. London, UK View fullsize Taking into consideration that I have all the windows facing the street, I see plenty of cars that drive at an outrageous pace, but I also have a few trees in front of the block which reduce somehow the pollution.Smaranda. View fullsize I am in the living room, the photos of my grandchildren are on the sideboard. My laptop is on my left, I have received many e-mails and have no time to read them. Oslo, Norway View fullsize I have an entire world before me when I look outside. The city with high rise buildings, Hotel Plaza and the post-building. I have city blocks, many roofs and some Oslo-fjord. Lots of green, Botanical garden, Holmenkollen, today white, covered in snow. Our lovely garden with benches and tables. The flowers are on their last legs, but beautiful too. Oslo, Norway View fullsize I feel like I can see ‘everything’ from my flat. It is bright and lovely: the sea (the Oslo Fjord), the islands, Oslo Plaza, the Government Quarter 22. July still covered in white, the people along Grønlandsleiret.Randi. Oslo, Norway View fullsize Depending on where I sit, I either see empty buildings and the sky or empty streets. The two generic office buildings which frame my view to the west were once inhabited. We used to feel overlooked before we had curtains and then when we opened them on a weekday morning. Now the only sign of life are a group of young men who live in eyeshot in a reality TV style pad, often drinking beers topless in the sun and BBQ-ing. I also see the two homeless men who sit in the street every day, often walk past and ignored. They remind me every day of the immense privilege with which I live. Alex. From my flat, the parking lot of the block is dominant. In the winter, I have got some view to the city, but in the summer it is lush and I see large, green trees.Ida. Bucharest, Romania View fullsize it's my neighbours house across our house the photo is taken from our study , today he is selling a bicycle from his son the son has several bikes . In our village people often sell things just by putting them in front of their house with a for sale sign. We also do that a lot and mostly it doesn't take long to sell it.Lin. Lauw (Tongeren), Belgium View fullsize A leak in my roof! Ceiling was soaked so had to come down. We need a new roof but no funds!Jane. Hockley, UK. View fullsize When I look down to the street from my flat I see an empty street market. Because of the pandemic everything is gone except a couple of fruit +veg stalls and dairy stall selling milk + butter etc. Usually it is full of street food stalls and is very busy and smelly. When I look out my windows I see the rooftops of surrounding buildings + empty offices. I can see the low skyline of central London, including the Post Office Tower.Adam.
